Valerie Brandes speaks at Kingston Uni Publishing Masterclass

Jacaranda Founder and Publisher Valerie Brandes will be speaking to MA Publishing students in a publishing Masterclass at Kingston University on Tuesday 12th December.

Speaking alongside Anna Kelly from HarperCollins, Brandes will be discussing whether there is a true need to publish diverse writers for diverse readers. Is it seen as a moral obligation, an endeavour that is necessary in today’s society, or is it a pragmatic and passionless pursuit of areas in publishing which haven’t been plundered?

The reality of publishing in this day and age, and the meaningful work of publishers who are trying to amplify minority voices will be discussed at length by both Brandes and Kelly.

The Kingston University MA Publishing Masterclass will be taking place on Tuesday 12th December 2017, starting at 6pm in Room 1005, John Galsworthy building, Penrhyn Road Campus, Kingston upon Thames.
